Final Project- Small Businesses During the Pandemic - Brenna

  After a two month closure during the lockdown, The Beehive Pantry reopened in April.  Since reopening, employees must take their temperature every time they enter the building.  Jillian Borgias became the manager of the back of house after the previous manager chose not to return. The previous manager takes care of her 99 year old mother and did not want to risk exposing her to COVID-19.  Skylar Dunn recently lost her second job as a waitress. She worked at Newport Vineyards and they let go many of their employees due to lack of business.  Mary Jackson, the manager, added a mask to the Halloween decorations.  Katelyn Nolan used to sell homemade jewelry at flea markets, but has been unable to do so in recent months.  Maddy Kleahy and Katelyn Nolan have both been quarantined twice due to contact with the virus.  Thom Sheehan lives with his partner and was planning on building a house with him, but their plans had to be halted due to the pandemic....

Final Project: A Cold, Lonely UMD Campus - Logan

  An empty McKeldin Mall that is usually filled with students. Regents Drive shows no traffic by vehicles or pedestrians. Busses that should be filled sit and wait for riders. A campus parking garage is empty except for a university work vehicle. Bikes sit idle and unused while a woman walks alone. The Xfinity Center's main entrance has closed due to COVID-19 protocols. The entrances are riddled with "closed" signs. A bridge sits alone with no one crossing.  A student is seen leaving the School of Public Health by herself. Freshman dorms lay dormant with no sign of life outside. Only lamp posts and a few dorm rooms illuminate this walkway. A golf cart left in the distance by itself with no driver to be seen. The empty Atlantic Building with one passerby. The Terps outdoor practice field is lifeless due to the cold weather. Two students are hesitant to cross paths as one is seen without a mask. A lone student appears bundled up on her walk back through campus. The sun is a...
