Final Project- Small Businesses During the Pandemic - Brenna

 

After a two month closure during the lockdown, The Beehive Pantry reopened in April. 

Since reopening, employees must take their temperature every time they enter the building. 

Jillian Borgias became the manager of the back of house after the previous manager chose not to return. The previous manager takes care of her 99 year old mother and did not want to risk exposing her to COVID-19. 

Skylar Dunn recently lost her second job as a waitress. She worked at Newport Vineyards and they let go many of their employees due to lack of business. 

Mary Jackson, the manager, added a mask to the Halloween decorations. 

Katelyn Nolan used to sell homemade jewelry at flea markets, but has been unable to do so in recent months. 

Maddy Kleahy and Katelyn Nolan have both been quarantined twice due to contact with the virus. 

Thom Sheehan lives with his partner and was planning on building a house with him, but their plans had to be halted due to the pandemic. 

The dishwasher had to be let go, so Tye Ross takes a break from baking to wash the dishes. 

The names in red are edits to the schedule due to unexpected quarantines. 

Curtis Papa is a baker and enjoys his daily cigarette break. 

Carissa Cabral recently found out that she is pregnant. She is extremely happy, but says it is stressful to think about having a child during the pandemic. 

Due to COVID regulations, customers must sign their name and number when seated in case contact tracing becomes necessary. 

Elaine Correiro works at The Beehive Cafe, but has begun taking shifts at The Pantry as many employees have needed to quarantine due to exposure to the virus. 

Thom Sheehan and Carissa Cabral have worked at The Beehive Pantry for over two years, longer than most other employees. 

Most employees at The Beehive Pantry won't be able to visit their families for the holidays, even those that live in the same town as cases are rising in Rhode Island.  

Mckinley Argyle decorates for the holiday season. She recently returned to work after a two week quarantine following a trip to Texas to visit her parents. 

Marisa Cayer is a freshman at URI. Her classes are online so she stayed home for the semester and continues to be a regular. 

Since the pandemic began, cleaning has become even more necessary and occurs more often to ensure that the virus will not spread.
